Our Philosophy
As a team of professional early childhood teachers, we believe in taking care of all children and their whanau through a holistic approach. Our teaching staff are focused on creating an inviting, multi-cultural environment that embraces and represents everyone.
This program will be built on the principles, strands and goals of Te Whariki and acknowledges Te reo, Tikanga and the Treaty of Waitangi. The Treehouse prides itself on often being the first introduction to childcare, for a lot of families. Its our aim to create a strong sense of well-being and belonging within our children, which they can carry with them to their next stage of daycare/school.
We work to make this transition as easy, and stress free as possible for our children and families alike. Our centre is unique in that we encourage parents to stay and enjoy sessions with their children. Once children are settled into their new environment and parents are comfortable, we then encourage parents to go and have some me time – at which point we assist both parties with this transition. We believe looking after parents and caregivers is just as important as looking after their children.
Our staff are passionate about children and put their safety and development at the forefront of all they do. We encourage children to explore and make choices and for all children to be involved in group and individual experiences. We will extend all children’s learning abilities, strengths and interests. Our passion also means we are always on hand to help, not only children but also the whanau, with any needs or concerns they may have moving forward.

How do you help settle new children?
At The Treehouse, we believe in the importance of positive emotional well-being in regard to children’s learning and development. Hence we ask parents and whanau to stay with their children for at least half an hour on their first day. If parents choose not to stay and if their child gets upset for more than a period of 15 minutes we will give parents a call. Depending on how well your child has settled, the teachers will discuss with you whether your child will need more time with you here.
